Do You Need To Bond With Your Teeth?

bwtIs the appearance of your teeth getting you down? Are you noticing discoloration, chips or cracks, or that your teeth are wearing down? If so, there is a quick and easy fix for that. No need to be suspect. Not everything associated with dentistry today includes a long, drawn out appointment, discomfort, or a major expense that depletes your savings. There are treatments today that are quick, easy, and affordable allowing you to walk away with a new and improved smile. If you’re dissatisfied with your current smile, maybe you need to bond with your teeth.

What is Bonding?

Cosmetic bonding is a quick and easy dental treatment that can make you proud of your smile. It does not require needles, Novocain, anesthesia, complex surgery, drilling, or filling. In fact, it is a non-invasive procedure, and several teeth can be completed in one visit. Tooth bonding is done with a composite resin material that is a plastic-like material. When in putty form it is easy to mold. The only preparation required for bonding is abrading the tooth (meaning to scrape it so it is rough) and the application of a light coat of conditioning liquid.

Once the tooth or teeth are prepared, which takes only a matter of minutes, the resin material is applied, shaped, and cured (hardened by applying an ultraviolet light to the material).  Bonding can be used to:

  • Mask small cracks
  • Fill in pits
  • Cover craze lines
  • Repair chips or breaks
  • Close gaps or spaces
  • Lengthen worn teeth
  • Enlarge small teeth
  • Whiten stained or discolored teeth
  • Cover sensitive exposed roots
